  1. Jan 27 OSHA 30-Hour Safety and Health Course "IAS" 5 Days, 07:00AM - 02:30PM

    This 5 - Day course encompasses all aspects of the 10-Hour OSHA training course with additional emphasis on safety and health management and additional topics covered in the construction standards. Recommended four year renewal period.

  2. Signal Person Safety Training (SPST) 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This certification course covers crane dynamics, hand signals, boom deflection, crane operations and limitations. Additional training topics will focus on hazard recognition and apply OSHA’s minimum clearance distance for cranes. Renewal period of four years.

  3. Printreading 5 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    The latest printreading course is a 5-day class and is for Residential and Light Commercial Construction. The course will provide printreading experience related to both residential and commercial construction. Expanded topics will include: construction materials and methods, the roles of building-process participants and project delivery methods.

  4. Pipeline Technology 80 Hours, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This Pipeline Technology course will be composed of both classroom and hands-on training. Students will learn about the different crews, equipment and other basic pipeline tasks. Some topics include: silt screen fence setup, chain saw operation, M-scope operation, skid setting, sandblasting, coating applications and cad welding. Students will also be tested for a variety of Operator Qualification tasks.

  5. Line and Grade "IAS" 5 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This 5 - Day course will focus on the correct set up and use of the builder’s level for elevation control and transfer of grade. Course will also feature the use of a transit for basic layout. Renewal period of five years.

  6. Scaffold Technology 5 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    Effective October 1st, 2015

    CLTAF's current 2-Day Scaffold Builders course will no longer be offered. A 5-Day Scaffold Technology course will be available.

    This 5-Day Scaffold Technology course has been redesigned and standardized on a national level for implementation by all Training Funds. The Scaffold Technology course is also recognized by International Accreditation Services (IAS).

    • Frame
    • Tube and Clamp
    • System
    • Suspension

    This Scaffold training certification will expire in 4 years and participants will need to take a 1-Day Scaffold Refresher to renew their certification.

  7. Jan 28 Aerial Lift Training 4 Hours, 07:00AM - 12:00PM

    Training focuses on daily inspection, maintenance and safe operation relating to scissor and boom lifts. The majority of the training class time will be devoted to a hands-on environment. Renewal period of 4 years.

  8. Jan 29 Flagger Certification Training 4 Hours, 07:00AM - 11:00AM

    This course meets the State of Illinois requirement for workers who direct or work around vehicular traffic. Training will focus on how to protect yourself, other workers and the public in work zones through the proper use of signs, signals and barricades. Renewal period of three years.

  9. Jan 30 Burning 2 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    Training is designed to prepare Laborers for work on demolition projects and general construction sites. Classroom studies include OSHA regulations and safe work practices. During hands-on training, students will learn proper set up, follow correct torch procedures, as well as practice effective cutting techniques. Students will apply these learned skills with various fuels used in the industry, including acetylene, propylene and propane. Plasma cutting is also introduced.

  10. OSHA 10-Hour Safety and Health Course "IAS" 2 Days, 07:00AM - 02:30PM

    This 2 - Day course focuses on the purpose and role of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The objective of this class is to ensure a safe and healthy workplace by showing students how to identify and avoid unsafe working conditions and acts. Recommended four year renewal period.

  11. Feb 3 OSHA 30-Hour Safety and Health Course "IAS" 5 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

  12. Hoisting and Rigging 40 Hours, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    Training focuses on the mathematical formulas for proper rigging techniques. These formulas will be used in determining correct sling angles and load calculations. The signal person safety training (SPST) is also a part of this curriculum. Renewal period of four years.

    Focuses on the principles and techniques of installing gravity flow pipe. Laser aligners, transits, checking line and grade, and crew member responsibilities will be reviewed. You will learn how to determine pipe slope and percentage of grade. Renewal period of five years.

  14. Feb 6 American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED 1 Day, 07:00AM - 12:00PM

    This course offers the latest techniques by the American Red Cross in giving first aid or cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and using an automated external defibrillator (AED). Renewal period of two years.

  15. Feb 7 Flagger Certification Training 4 Hours, 07:00AM - 11:00AM

  21. Feb 11 Trench Safety 2 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    We review and discuss OSHA guidelines for trenching, shoring, soil classifications, protective systems, rescue shoring and shoring systems design. The hands-on in this two day course is extensive. Topics include: hydraulic shoring, screw jacks, air and timber shores, trench shields, manhole braces and much more.

  22. Asbestos Abatement Supervisor Refresher "IAS" 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:00PM

    In this 2 - Day course students will not only learn proper work zones issues for general road work and highway work zones, but they will also receive flaggers training. Safety topics will include concrete work, power tools, back safety and communication issues. Renewal period of three years.

  25. Feb 14 Hazardous Waste Worker Refresher "IAS" 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This annual refresher training fulfills all of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER) requirement for working on hazardous waste sites. In addition, course reviews OSHA permit-required confined space and hazard communication standards (GHS). Students with an expired certificate for more than 12 months are not elligible for reaccreditation and must retake the initial training course.

    This training focuses on preparing the driver for the Pre-trip inspection and Basic Skills portions of the Road Test that will be performed at the Secretary of State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

  29. Asbestos Abatement Worker Training "IAS" 5 Days, 07:00AM - 03:00PM

    This course fulfills all of the EPA, State of Illinois (IDPH) and Indiana (IDEM) requirements for obtaining an Asbestos Worker license. Hands-on activities include the use of air purifying respirators, construction of negative pressure containment and decontamination unit, as well as simulated removal and clean up of asbestos materials.

  30. Permit-required Confined Space Entry Safety 3 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This course prepares the individual to work as part of an entry into Permit-Required Confined Space. Training focuses on how to recognize, evaluate and control safety and health hazards associated with PRCS. Topics include Hazard Recongnition, Health Effects, PPE, OSHA construction standard for confined spaces, Lock-Out and Tag-Out, Ventilation, monitoring and entry permit program.

  31. Feb 20 CDL Pre-Trip and Road Test - Class A and B 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This training focuses on preparing the driver for the Pre-trip inspection and Basic Skills portions of the Road Test that will be performed at the Secretary of State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

  35. Equipment Test Out 1 Hour, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This course is only offered to experienced operators and individuals who have previously attended the Equipment Operation course. A time slot will be reserved for each student’s test out based on the equipment selected. Equipment available for test out is the skid steer and the class 4 industrial forklift and the class 7 rough terrain forklift.

    This 40 hour course is geared toward current Foreman/General Foreman and/or Laborers aspiring to become Foreman/General Foreman. It will cover the duties and responsibilities that are expected from Foreman and General Foreman.

    This LIUNA Curriculum has been designed and developed by Laborers for LIUNA members across the United States and Canada. It is also recognized by the International Accreditation Services "IAS".

  40. Feb 25 Hazard Communication "IAS" 4 Hours, 07:00AM - 12:00PM

    OSHA’s hazard communication standard has been updated to include the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of classification and labeling of chemicals. This course emphasizes the workers “right to know” about the chemicals used in the workplace through the use of SDS sheets, pictograms and standard labels. OSHA mandated all workers need to be trained to understand the new GHS system by December 1, 2013.
