  3. Confined Space Awareness 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    The 8-hour Confined Space in Construction Awareness course is an "awareness only" course which is intended to raise the participant’s level of understanding of the hazards associated to working in and around confined spaces. 

     

    This course will not train individuals to enter a permit required confined space or work as a member of a permit-required confined space entry team.

     Individuals who will be working as members of an entry team should take the 3-Day Permit-Required Confined Space Entry Safety course, which covers each topic in greater detail and provides more “hands-on” experience.
  4. Mar 9 Lead Abatement Supervisor Training "IAS" 5 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    Training prepares you for the State of Illinois' Third Party Exam requirement for obtaining an Illinois Lead Abatement Supervisor license. *Applicants are required to have a minimum of 2000 hours of lead worker experience or 4000 hours of combined environmental worker experience. This certificate is valid for three years. Students with an expired certificate for more than 12 months are not elligible for reaccreditation and must retake the initial training course.
  5. Basic Construction Math 1 Day, 05:00PM - 09:00PM

    This 8-Hour course is designed to expose participants to the basic math operations that are used as a construction craft laborer. Some of the exercises covered are reading a tape measurer, converting inches to decimal feet, principles of squaring rectangles and squares, and figuring area/volume of shapes to order materials. By the end of the course, participants will have a stronger grasp of math principles that directly support tasks in concrete, asphalt, excavation, grade checking, and general construction.

    Focuses on the principles and techniques of installing pressure and gravity flow pipe systems. Laser aligners, transits, checking line and grade, and crew member responsibilities will be reviewed. You will learn how to determine pipe slope and percentage of grade. Renewal period of five years.

    This annual refresher training fulfills all of the EPA, State of Illinois (IDPH) and Indiana (IDEM) requirements for maintaining an Asbestos Worker license.   10. Aerial Lift Training 4 Hours, 07:00AM - 11:00AM

    Training focuses on daily inspection, maintenance and safe operation relating to scissor and boom lifts. The majority of the training class time will be devoted to a hands-on environment. Renewal period of 4 years.

  15. Lead Awareness 8 Hours, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This 8-hour Lead Awareness Training Class provides participants with a thorough understanding of lead hazards commonly encountered in construction and renovation, in accordance with OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910.1025 and 1926.62). The course covers health effects of lead exposure, routes of exposure, recognition of lead-containing materials, exposure control methods, proper work practices, and personal protective equipment. Students will also learn about housekeeping procedures, hygiene practices, medical surveillance requirements, and regulatory compliance. This course is intended for lead awareness only and does not qualify participants to perform lead abatement or EPA RRP activities. Lead abatement and RRP certification courses are available separately. Through classroom instruction and practical examples, participants will gain the knowledge needed to recognize lead hazards and help reduce the risk of lead exposure in the workplace.
  16. Scaffold Builder Refresher 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This 1-Day refresher training is required every 4 years to renew your CLTAF Scaffold Builders Certification. Participants will be refreshed and required to pass a hands-on performance assessment on Frame, Tube and Clamp, System and Elevated Work Platforms (Scissor and Boom Lifts). There will be a 1-year grace period extended to you to renew your certification.

  17. Burning 2 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    Training is designed to prepare Laborers for work on demolition projects and general construction sites. Classroom studies include OSHA regulations and safe work practices. During hands-on training, students will learn proper set up, follow correct torch procedures, as well as practice effective cutting techniques. Students will apply these learned skills with various fuels used in the industry, including acetylene and propylene. In addition to oxy-fuel cutting, plasma cutting is also introduced.

  20. Mar 26 Hazard Communication 4 Hours, 05:00PM - 09:00PM

    OSHA’s hazard communication standard has been updated to include the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of classification and labeling of chemicals. This course emphasizes the workers “right to know” about the chemicals used in the workplace through the use of SDS sheets, pictograms and standard labels. OSHA mandated all workers need to be trained to understand the new GHS system by December 1, 2013.

  22. Respirator Training 8 Hours, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This 8-hour Respirator Training Class provides comprehensive instruction on the selection, use, limitations, maintenance, and storage of respiratory protection in accordance with OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910.134). Participants will learn how to identify respiratory hazards, understand different types of respirators, perform user seal checks, and recognize when respirators are required in the workplace. The course includes both classroom instruction and hands-on practice to ensure students are confident in correctly donning, using, and caring for respirators. Upon successful completion, participants will have the knowledge needed to safely protect themselves from airborne contaminants.

  25. Hydro Mobile M2 Erector/Dismantler (E&D) 3 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    Upon successful completion of this 3-day course, the participant will receive a Qualified Erector/Dismantler Certification which allows them to: erect, dismantle, test, pass for use, and modify the configuration of Hydro Mobile M2 units according to the guidelines, instructions, warnings, and methods provided in the owner’s manual and during this Hydro Mobile training course.
  26. OSHA 10-Hour Safety and Health Course 2 Days, 07:00AM - 02:30PM

    This 2 - Day course focuses on the purpose and role of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The objective of this class is to ensure a safe and healthy workplace by showing students how to identify and avoid unsafe working conditions and acts. Recommended four year renewal period.

    This course prepares the individual to work as part of an entry into Permit-Required Confined Space. Training focuses on how to recognize, evaluate and control safety and health hazards associated with PRCS. Topics include Hazard Recognition, Health Effects, PPE, OSHA construction standard for confined spaces, Lock-Out and Tag-Out, Ventilation, monitoring and entry permit program.

    This Solar Farm Training course is composed of both classroom and hands-on training. The course will provide experience related to commercial Solar Farm construction and Solar Panel Installation. Classroom activities include lessons on electrical hazards, PV module, post and racking installation and more.     This training fulfills the EPA’s requirements to become a Certified Lead Renovator. Certification is required for Laborers who are engaging in renovation, repair and painting activities that disturb lead-based paint in pre-1978 houses and child occupied facilities. This certificate is valid for five years. Students must take their refresher training prior to the expiration of their current or refresher certificate.

    In this two day course students willlearn proper work zone practices and protocols for general road work and highway work zones.  In addition they will also receive IDOT Flagger training.     The LiUNA Chicagoland Laborers' Training Fund is offering this 1- Day (8 hour) training course as part of our continued education.
