Introduction to training

TRAINING IS available to any Laborer, 18 years or older, who is interested in construction and who demonstrates a willingness to learn. Contractors sponsor laborers for training and members apply through their Local Union.

CLASS INFORMATION

The Training Center offers many classes divided in to three general areas: Environmental, General Construction, and Safety. Working with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois Department of Public Health, Indiana Department of Environmental Management, U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA, Environmental Protection Agency, the National Safety Council and various other agencies, we strive to keep our curriculum interesting and current.

Students can attend full-time training during the day or evening. A training allowance is dispersed upon completion of training which helps many laborers who otherwise might not be able to attend. (Training allowances are paid out in check form upon successful completion of a course. Stipend payments are based on a $30.00 per 8-hour day rate.)

We are located in Carol Stream, Illinois. Our 75,000 sq.ft. facility, on a 15 acre campus, is utilized year round, and includes laboratories specially equipped to simulate job conditions, classrooms, an auditorium, dining and meeting rooms. It is recognized as one of the finest, state-of-the-art facilities in the country.
