  1. Jul 16 Pneumatic Tools (Apprentice Only) 5 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This comprehensive five day course addresses the use of pneumatic tools and discusses safety for the user. Tool recognition and maintenance, to assist in equipment longevity, are included. Students learn to use the pavement breaker, chipping guns, grinder, drills and vibrators, hand-held and power-driven saws. Back safety and proper lifting procedures are discussed and practiced. Renewal period of five years.

  2. Scaffold Technology 5 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    Effective October 1st, 2015

    CLTAF's current 2-Day Scaffold Builders course will no longer be offered. A 5-Day Scaffold Technology course will be available.

    The Scaffold Builders course has been redesigned and standardized on a national level for implementation by all Training Funds. The Scaffold Technology course is also recognized by International Accreditation Services (IAS).

    This new 5-Day course will cover the following Scaffold Systems:
    • Frame
    • Tube and Clamp
    • System
    • Suspension

    This Scaffold training certification will expire in 4 years and participants will need to take a 1-Day Scaffold Refresher to renew their certification.

    This training meets the  OSHA regulations for Scaffold Builders.

  3. Asbestos Abatement Worker Refresher 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This annual refresher training fulfills all of the EPA, State of Illinois (IDPH) and Indiana (IDEM) requirements for maintaining an Asbestos Worker license. Students with an expired certificate for more than 6 months (Indiana) or 12 months (Illinois) are not elligible for reaccreditation and must retake the initial training course.

  4. Equipment Operation 5 Days, 08:00AM - 03:30PM

    This 5-Day course deals with approved safety procedures for the operation of equipment. Basic operation of an industrial forklift, Lull and construction skidloader is taught, along with ongoing maintenance procedures. Hands-on training in identification and usage of the universal hand signals will also be a part of this course. Renewal period of three years for Class 4 & 7 Forklifts and Skid Steers. Renewal period of four years for Aerial Lifts.

  5. Equipment Test Out 1 Hour, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This course is only offered to experienced operators and individuals who have previously attended the Equipment Operation course. A time slot will be reserved for each student’s test out based on the equipment selected. Equipment available for test out is the skidloader and the class 4 & 7 forklift. Renewal period of three years for Class 4 & 7 Forklifts and skid Steers. Renewal period of four years for Aerial Lifts

  10. Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) 24 Hours, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    A required certification for all Laborers working in a hospital or healthcare environment. Topics will include: setting up and maintaining a negative air environment; removing debris; constructing barriers to prevent the spread of infectious diseases; monitoring the work environment and inspecting, donning and removing personal protection equipment.

  11. Signal Person Safety Training (SPST) 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This certification course covers crane dynamics, hand signals, boom deflection, crane operations and limitations. Additional training topics will focus on hazard recognition and apply OSHA’s minimum clearance distance for cranes. Renewal period of four years.

  12. Jul 19 Lead Abatement Supervisor Refresher 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This training fulfills EPA and State of Illinois (IDPH) requirements for maintaining a Lead Abatement Supervisor license. This certification is valid for three years. Students with an expired certificate for more than 12 months are not elligible for reaccreditation and must retake the initial training course.

  13. American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED 1 Day, 07:00AM - 12:00PM

    This course offers the latest techniques by the American Red Cross in giving first aid or cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and using an automated external defibrillator (AED). Renewal period of two years.

  14. Jul 20 Hazardous Waste Worker Refresher 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This annual refresher training fulfills all of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER) requirement for working on hazardous waste sites. In addition, course reviews OSHA permit-required confined space and hazard communication standards (GHS). Students with an expired certificate for more than 12 months are not elligible for reaccreditation and must retake the initial training course.

    This course offers the latest techniques by the American Red Cross in giving first aid or cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and using an automated external defibrillator (AED). Renewal period of two years.

    This course meets the State of Illinois requirement for workers who direct or work around vehicular traffic. Training will focus on how to protect yourself, other workers and the public in work zones through the proper use of signs, signals and barricades. Renewal period of three years.

  18. CDL Pre-Trip and Road Test - Class A and B 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This training focuses on preparing the driver for the Pre-trip inspection and Basic Skills portions of the Road Test that will be performed at the Secretary of State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

  19. OSHA 30-Hour Safety and Health Course "IAS" 5 Days, 05:00PM - 09:00PM

    This 5 - Day course encompasses all aspects of the 10-Hour OSHA training course with additional emphasis on safety and health management and additional topics covered in the construction standards. Recommended four year renewal period.

  20. Pipelaying "IAS" 5 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    Focuses on the principles and techniques of installing gravity flow pipe. Laser aligners, transits, checking line and grade, and crew member responsibilities will be reviewed. You will learn how to determine pipe slope and percentage of grade. Renewal period of five years.

  21. Asbestos Abatement Worker Training 5 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This course fulfills all of the EPA, State of Illinois (IDPH) and Indiana (IDEM) requirements for obtaining an Asbestos Worker license. Hands-on activities include the use of air purifying respirators, construction of negative pressure containment and decontamination unit, as well as simulated removal and clean up of asbestos materials.

  22. Concrete and Wallforming 5 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This course deals with the placement of concrete and the latest concrete technology. Specific topics include excavation, backfill and compaction, placement of concrete, concrete vibration, tool identification, finishing and curing and hands-on project. Renewal period of five years.

  25. Jul 26 1-Day Silica Exposure Awareness "IAS" 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    The LiUNA Chicagoland Laborers' Training Fund is offering this 1- Day (8 hour) training course as part of our continued education. This course will meet and comply with OSHA's Final Rule on Silica Exposure. OSHA has amended thier previous exposure limits due to significant risk to workers' health. All contractors must comply with OSHA's Final Rule by September 23, 2017.

  28. Hazard Communication "IAS" 4 Hours, 05:00PM - 09:00PM

    OSHA’s hazard communication standard has been updated to include the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of classification and labeling of chemicals. This course emphasizes the workers “right to know” about the chemicals used in the workplace through the use of SDS sheets, pictograms and standard labels. OSHA mandated all workers need to be trained to understand the new GHS system by December 1, 2013.

    This 1-Day refresher training is required every 4 years to renew your CLTAF Scaffold Buiders Certification. Participants will be refreshed and required to pass a hands-on performance assessment on the follow scaffold systems:

    • Frame Scaffolds
    • Tube and Clamp Scaffolds
    • Systems Scaffolds
    • Suspension Scaffolds                                 
  32. Asbestos Abatement Supervisor Training 40 Hours, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    Training fulfills all of the EPA, State of Illinois (IDPH) and Indiana (IDEM) requirements for obtaining an Asbestos Supervisor license. Course features estimating and blueprint reading exercises, project documentation and legal and regulatory liabilities. *Applicants are required to have a minimum of 2080 hours of asbestos worker experience.

  33. Jul 31 Burning 2 Days, 08:00AM - 03:30PM

    Training is designed to prepare Laborers for work on demolition projects and general construction sites. Classroom studies include OSHA regulations and safe work practices. During hands-on training, students will learn proper set up, follow correct torch procedures, as well as practice effective cutting techniques. Students will apply these learned skills with various fuels used in the industry, including acetylene, propylene and propane. Plasma cutting is also introduced. Renewal period of five years.
